The list gives the number of persons in the family of each proprietor and is equivalent to a census.
::: Theophilus had 5 people in the household in the 1704 census. He was a locksmith by trade and was active in the First Church as wellas holding civil and military positions in New Haven. On March 16, 1720, Theopholis donated one acre of land for the benefitof Yale College. Sixteen others contributed enough to make up 40 acres. This is the land on which the Campus is now located.
