The Thomas Cushman Collection, by Norma Callahan
Captian Thomas Cushman was born in Bridgewater on June 25, 1736, the illegitimate son of Thomas Cushman and Alice Hayward. In February 1737/8, his father married Methitable Faunce; they provided Thomas with 12 half-siblings. His grandfather was the Robert Cushman who came to Plymouth aboard the Fortune in 1621. Thomas married Bethiah Thompson, the daugher of Thomas Thomas and Jane WAshburn on jun 25, 1794, his 58th birthday.
