Thomas Lincoln, Jr. (distinguished in the records by the title of grand senior), was born, probably in England, and was baptized in Hingham in Feb. 1637-8, by Rev. Peter Hobart. He became an early resident of Taunton. Thomas and his father were in the second list of the thirty-five persons who shared in the division of the original lands of Cohannet (Taunton). He was a husbandman. He married Mary, daughter of Jonah Austin, and their children, all probably born in Taunton, were:

  • Sarah, b. Sept. 25, 1654 ; d. young.
  • Thomas, b. April 21, 1656.
  • Samuel, b. March 16, 1658
  • Jonah, b. July 7, 1660.
  • Sarah, b. July 7, 1660.
  • Hannah, b. March 15, 1663.
  • Constant, b. May 16, 1665 ; m. July 13, 1687, William Briggs,
  • Mercy, b. April 3, 1670 ; m. William Caswell, of Taunton.
  • Experience [1] Capt. Thomas Lincoln is buried in the Hingham Cemetery, Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. The inscription on his tombstone reads: "Here lies ye body of Captn Thomas Lincolne died Nour ye 28 1708 in ye 71st year of his age."[2]
