GEDCOM Note

From the Athens (Tenn.) Post June 7, 1861 Railroad Accident The train going East on the East Tennessee & Virginia RR, on Sunday, with Col. Vaughn’s Regiment from this place Knoxville, met with a serious accident, four miles West of New Market. The trucks under the second car ran off the track, throwing off three cars. The second car, containing Captain Morelock’s company, suffered severely; but so far, it is thought that the injuries of none will prove fatal. The injured, of whom a list will be found below, were brought to this city yesterday morning, and placed in comfortable quarters near the Asylum, where every attention has been and will be given them, by Doctors Bell, Ramsey, Rodgers and Morrow.
