Suspect killed by Seattle Police at Tukwila hotel identified

SEATTLE — Seattle police released the name of a man who was shot and killed by authorities at a Tukwila hotel as part of a child sex sting.

Seattle Police say they believed the man, identified as Bruce Coval Meneley, was at the DoubleTree Hotel on Southcenter Parkway on April 17 to meet two 7- and 11-year-old girls.

Instead, three Seattle officers were waiting inside the hotel room. When police opened the door and began identifying themselves, Meneley began taking out a gun.

BRUCE Coval Meneley was a suspect in child sex crimes.

He was killed by police on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, following a sting operation conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force members.

Who was Bruce Coval Meneley?

As Fox 13 News reported, 67-year-old retired US Navy doctor Bruce Coval Meneley was shot and killed by Seattle Police at around 3 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the DoubleTree hotel on Southcenter Parkway in Tukwila Washington.

Seattle Police released graphic body camera footage of the incident.

As Fox 13 noted, police officers came out of a hotel room to approach Meneley, who appeared to pull out a gun from his jacket in the bodycam video.

The officers fired about 30 shots at Meneley, per the outlet.

He died from "multiple gunshot wounds," per medical records.

According to The Seattle Times, Meneley was identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office — who ruled his death a homicide — on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

One involved officer sustained a "minor injury."

"One of the officers involved suffered a graze wound. He was treated for a minor injury and was not transported to the hospital," an SPD Blotter post about the incident said.
