Commanded a company at Battle of Bennington 1777.

Son Benjamin married John Greenleaf Whittier's first cousin, Achsah Whittier.

Charles served in his brother's Benjamin company during the Revolution War. This company was in Col. David Gilman's Regiment. Charles married Jane McCrillis about 1763. Charles and Jane lived in Canterbury and then Charles and Jane moved to Lauden about 1773. After the war Charles and Jane moved to First Peacham and then to Danville, Vermont. In 1802 Charles purchased land at West Derby, Vermont overlooking beautiful Lake Memphremago. Jane died on March 9, 1813. Charles died on March 7,1837. Charles and Jane are both buried in West Derby, Vermont.
