On 1 May 2023 Em Lo sent the following information:

Dates: His birth year as per his army enlistment document is 1765 and his death year is 1806. Both his father and mother's identities are as yet still unknown. The family legend that he was an illegitimate child of Bonnie Prince Charlie is not quite correct. Firstly he is too young to have been conceived during the Jacobite uprising 1745-46. His father or mother would have been of the right age for that to be possible. A male descendant of his tested his Y-DNA for a Stuart specific marker and it was negative, so his father was not a descendant of Bonnie Prince Charlie. His mother may have been but there is no way of testing that genetically. Ditto for his wife Mary Cooper's parents - they may have been of the right age to have been conceived during the Jacobite uprising, but their identities are as yet unknown.
