About Captain Dutee Jerauld
A Patriot of the American Revolution for RHODE ISLAND with the rank of CAPTAIN. DAR Ancestor #: A044345
Dutee Jerauld began his military career in Oct 1776 as a member of the 1st Regiment, Rhode Island Militia, Second Batatalion Field Officer under Capt. William Tew as a 2nd Lieut. By Feb 1776 he was a 1st Lieut. i n the 2nd Bat. under Capt. Christopher Dyre. By May 1981 he had been promoted to Captain a company in the State's Battalion of Continental Troops under Lt. Col. Commandant Jeremiah Olney. In May 1782 we find, p 414 of THE CIVIL AND MILITARY LIST OF RHODE ISLAND V1 the following entry: "State's Continental Battalion: Capt. Benjamin L. Peckham, in room of Dutee Jerauld, resigned, from June 22nd, 1782."
