About Captain Emanuel Hungerford, Free Settler "Alexander Henry" 1828
Emanuel Hungerford was born on 1 February 1785. He was the son of John Hungerford and Anne Daunt. He married Catherine Loane, daughter of Dr. unknown Loane, on 1 February 1813. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 32nd Foot. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the South Cork Militia.
Captain Emanuel Hungerford was the first of the Irish Hungerfords to migrate to Australia in 1828. He established himself in the Hunter Valley and died in 1872 at West Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.
