Served in the Revolutionary War, as did 4 of his sons.
Private from Willington on the Lexington Alarm list. Governor Jonathan Trumbull commissioned him on 3-21-1777 as a Captain of the Third Company in the 22nd Regiment of the Connecticut Militia under Colonel Joel Jones.
