Confederate soldier--Company E, 24th Georgia Regiment (Rabun Gap Riflemen). Enlisted as a Private on August 24, 1864 and promoted to Captain on October 27, 1862. Killed in Gordonsville, Virginia on April 29, 1864. This was the same day that General Robert E. Lee visited Gordonsville to review General Longstreet's 1st Corps in the lead up to the Battle of the Wilderness (5-6 May 1864).
Gordonsville was strategically important during the Civil War, due to its location on the Virginia Central Railroad.
