About Captain John Spingler Triglar
Fatherless because of the Revolution, John worked with his uncle (by marriage), Henry Spingler, in the Fly Market and took over their butcher's stall there.
When he was a youth, he would have spent time on his uncle Henry's farm on Bowery Hill.

It was assigned to Henry Spingler's nephew, John Triglar about the 18th September 1797. Doubtless Henry’s operation of the farm by the future Union Square that became Henry's in 1788 required the focus of more of Henry's energies.
In any event, this market place became outdated by 1821 and was closed
