Biography
Richard Knight, Jr. - son of Jonathan and Hannah (Bennett) Knight. Richard was born 24 September 1685, probably in Warwick, RI (Cooper says Cranston). He was called Jr. (or yeoman) to distinguish him from his cousin, Capt. Richard, son of John. He married Penelope or Dinah____, and lived in Providence and Cranston.
Richard passed away in 1754 at Cranston. His will was exhibited to the the Cranston Town Council on 7 November 1754.[1]

Richard Knight, Jr. - son of Jonathan and Hannah (Bennett) Knight. Richard was born 24 September 1685, probably in Warwick, RI (Cooper says Cranston). He was called Jr. (or yeoman) to distinguish him from his cousin, Capt. Richard, son of John. He married Penelope or Dinah____, and lived in Providence and Cranston. On 28 August 1723, he (called Richard Knight, son of Jonathan, deceased) bought of Andrew Harris, for £120, land west side of Pauchasset River, consisting of 60 acres, bounded partly by land of Richard Knight, son of John, deceased. In 1733 he deeded son Christopher, for love, &c., 288 acres in Warwick, where Christopher dwells. In 1738 he deeded son Richard 60 acres, and son William 74 acres and dwelling house, for love, &c. On 9 May 1752 he deeded son Jeremiah, for love, &c., 53 acres and buildings with reservation of best room for life. He died 24 October 1754. His will dated 22 May 1752 was proved at Cranston 7 November 1754.
Ex. son Richard. To son Christopher, £40, and a cross cut saw and a gun. To son William, half a meadow, &c. To sons Richard and Jeremiah, a lot of land. To son William, a third of profits of orchard, north side of highway, for seven years. To sons Richard and Jeremiah, all the rest of personal, equally.
Inventory, £5,521, 5s., 5d., viz: wearing apparel £109, 10s., bonds and notes £2,580, 13s., 11d., silver money £6, books £2, 10s., pewter, warming pan, 4 feather beds, old worsted combs, cooper's tools, gun, cider mill, 23 loads of hay, old horse, old mare, colt, pair of oxen, 7 cows, 3 young cattle, 16 sheep, 9 swine, &c.

The Mason Publishing Company Boston & Syracuse 1902 - Page 423 From other records of Captain (Thomas) Fenner it appears that "Samuel Ralph, George Potter, Zachariah Field, Thomas Garrard, went out on the Scout upon the 17 of August 1704. Thos. Fenner Jr. and Thomas Grarrard went out on the Scout upon the 24 of August, and Henry Randall went to joyne with them on the 27th of August. Richard Knight, the Soon of Jonathan Knight, and Richad Knight , the Soon of Ann Knight, went forth upon the scout the 1st of September, and John Tucker and Thomas Taylor went forth upon the scout on the 5th of September".
