CAPTAIN SIR ALEXANDER LIVINGSTON, BARONET

Lieutenant-Colonel in the Cameronian Regiment: Sometime Battalion Colonel of the same, formerly a Captian in Balfour's Regiment of the Scots Brigade

Captain Sir Alexander Livingston, Baronet, is the son of Colonel Sir Thomas Livingstone, Baronet.The Scots Peerage, viii, p. 374 His mother was Gertrat Edmond. Westminster Abbey: Thomas Livingstone, Viscount Teviot

Catain Sir Alexander Livingston, third Baronet, entered the army of the States General, was captain in Balfour's Regiment, Scots Brigade 10 May 1679, taken prisoner at The Battle of Landen, lieutenant-colonel of the Cameronian Regiment 1 September 1693, battalion colonel 15 August 1704, but sold his commission, retaining his captaincy, on 24 October 1705, placed on half-pay 13 May 1713. He was wounded at The Battle of Blenheim He was served heir to his brother Thomas, Viscount Teviot, in the lands of Waughton in Haddingtonshire and Abbotshall in Fifeshire 8 May 1871. In 1702 he purchased the estate of Lethington from the Earl of Lauderdale. The Scots Peerage, viii, p. 374

  • Ridder-Baronet, van eene Compagnie Schottenin dienst der Staten van Holland (in garnizoen te Breda). 10 mei 1679, streed in 1689 en 1690 onder Willem III in Ireland en komt in 1699 voor als Luit.-Colonel van een Schotsch Regiment ter repartitie van Zeeland. Hij verliet later den dienst met den rang van Colonel en vestigde zich denkelijk in 1711 te Amsterdam, waar hij woondfe op de Heerengracht
