Aaron Loveless, son-in-law of Thomas Van Hyning and husband of Thomas' oldest daughter Belinda, was appointed administrator of Thomas' estate on 13 August 1849. Administration papers revealed that Elijah Estes, Thomas Murray, and William Douglas were appointed to appraise the real and personal estate of Thomas Van Hyning. The 110-1/2 acres belonging to Thomas were appraised at $6.50 per acre for a total of $718.25. The livestock, grain, and farm equipment belonging to Thomas were appraised at $237.02, making his total estate worth $955.27. Although the records indicate that livestock, grain, and farm equipment were sold to family members and other persons, apparently it was not necessaryto sell the 110-1/2 acres at that time. It is assumed that the wife and unmarried children of Thomas Van Hyning lived oninthe family homestead until 6 February 1865. On that date a deed is recordedshowing the sale of the property to Belinda Loveless (the oldest daughter) by Affa Van Hyning, VanRensaeller Van Hyning, Susan Van Hyning, Thomas Richmond, Ruth Richmond, William D.
