 Carl A. Salo, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at his residence in Poway, Calif., of natural causes.

He was born in Poplar, Wis., on April 1, 1916, to David and Hulda Salo.

Carl lived in Superior for much of his adult life, having completed 50 years membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters while working for Lakehead Constructors, Inc., the company from which he retired in 1981.

Carl was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing on Lake Superior and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Ida (Maki) and his daughter, Joanne Mrotek, brothers, Roy, Frank, Eino, Reino, Arthur and Walter.

Carl is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Minaker, San Diego, Calif., a son, Richard Salo, Poway, Calif., a sister, Hazel Salo and a brother, Ed Salo, both of Superior, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
