Carl L. Chisman, 89, 156 N. Ransom, died at 9 a.m. Dec. 23 at his home.

A retired John Deere Ottumwa Works employee, he was born Aug. 6, 1893, at Elsie, Neb. to James and Mary Springer Chisman. He was a member of the Willard Street United Methodist Church; the Empire Masonic Lodge 269, and the York Rite Masonic Bodies of Ottumwa. He married Carrie E. Anderson on April 18, 1917, in Ottumwa. She died in 1944. On March 2, 1946, he married Clara M. Swanson at Munterville.

Survivors: his wife; brothers Paul of Blakesburg, Harold of Madison, Wis., Herbert of Omaha, Neb., and Ellis Knox of Ottumwa.

Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Willard Street United Methodist Church, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery.

Masonic Services: 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Chapel.

Memorial: to his church.

The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral chapel until 9 a.m. Monday, when it will be taken to the church and closed at the beginning of the service.

Visitation: after 5 p.m. Friday.
