Gebhard Werner Graf von der Schulenburg was among others Prussian ambassador in Stuttgart am Höfe with Duke Charles II of Württemberg. Here also grew his son Gebhard von Schulenburg, in the beginning of the 19th Century was appointed to the President of the Reich under French leadership stands in the proclaimed Kingdom of Westphalia.
He cultivated contacts during the wars of liberation to the displaced persons from Braunschweig Duke Friedrich Wilhelm (the "Black Duke") and was therefore temporarily monitored. In the year in 1813 Wolfsburg castle was occupied by French troops.
After the termination of the French dominion Gebhard Graf of the Schulenburg was in the 1814 President of the provisional general estates assembly of the Kingdom of Hannover. He was in October 1815 at the request of the later King George IV of the United Kingdom, Minister of State at the tip of the secret Ratskollegs of the duchy of Braunschweig-Wolfsenbuttel. In this office Gebhard Graf von der Schulenburg died in the year 1818 in Wolfsburg.
