Caroline Chandler was born in Kanawha County, Virginia (now West Virginia). She was the daughter of Richard Carter Chandler and Catherine "Kitty" Morris Chandler of Kanawha County. Caroline married Richard M. Cobbs on September 19, 1854 and had seven children during the years 1855 - 1875.
