Carolyn J. Snyder

Born to a large family, Carolyn was the 7th living child of Myrtle Maushardt and Samuel C. Jordan. She grew up poor but well loved. Her Mother died of cancer of the uterus when Carolyn was only 10 years old. Back then cancer was not spoken of outside of a hospital and Carolyn was not allowed to go into the hospital to visit her Mother because of her age. I am sure that was a terrible time for her. Her sister, Minnie Eileen Jordan (Turanchik), the oldest, took over the care of the family. Aunt Sis, as Eileen was called, became a mother figure to all the children still at home. Carolyn loved reading and writting.
