Carrie Jones, 79, of 924 Singletary Church Road, departed this life on July 26, 2012, at home. She was born in Robeson County on Oct. 2, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whit Jones; a son, Dennis Wayne Jones; a grandson, Benji Lee Smith; her parents , Luther and Effie Jacobs; four brothers, Joseph Jones, Johnny Jacobs, Wilson Jacobs (Find A Grave Memorial# 79407457) and Neil Jones, Jr. (Find A Grave Memorial# 75946160); and three sisters, Frances Brooks, Luellen McMillan and Christine Chavis (Find A Grave Memorial# 79407349).

She is survived by three sons, Terry Jones, Billy Ray Jones and Kenneth Wayne Jones of the home; five daughters, Carol Jane Jacobs, Brenda Ann Maynor, Connie Smith, Sybil Jane Jacobs and Mary Jane Jones; four grandsons, Andrew Hammonds, Justin Jones, Steven Jones and Samuel Jones, all of the home; two sisters, Dovie Oxendine and Vashti Morgan of St. Pauls; two brothers, R.C. Jacobs and Luther Jacobs of Lumberton; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two adopted daughters, Wanda Jacobs and Jennie Rose Jacobs; two special friends, Susan Bullard and Delores Pait; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at Smyrna Baptist Church, the Revs. Carl Pevia, Charles Locklear and Horace Oxendine officiating. Interment will follow in Robeson Memorial Park.
