About Catharina Beatrix Souness
Source: Heese & Lombard: SA Genealogies, vol 3 (H-I)
South African Commercial Advertiser 1836
CHRISTENINGS In St.George’s Anglican Church, Cape Town on Sunday Jan 17 by the Rev George Hough MA, Senior Colonial Chaplain: Two daughters and one son of Mr. James SOUNES, baptised Catharina Beatrice, Anna Augusta and Jacobus Johannus.
The St George's Cathedral (Church of England) was opened for services on December 21, 1834.
So far I could not get any confirmation that her father, James Souness, was Anglican. James Souness emigrated from East Lothian, the same area as John Knox started his Reformation. Therefore James Souness was either Catholic or Presbyterian.
Surname also spelt: Zones, Zounes, Sones, Sonnes, Sonus, Zoons, Souness(Scottish), Sounness Soanes, Soans, Sownes, Sonas, Soonius
