- The 1st step to search for death notices in South African Archives is to follow this link where you will find a lot of detail. http://www.national.archives.gov.za/naairs_content.htm
- Here you will find sub search machine available but only if you are clear and with a very good knowledge of the Archive, you only click on the last heading SEARCH.
- You will get this block
• News on NAAIRS • Introduction to NAAIRS • NAAIRS databases • Explanation of information categories (paragraph names) in record format • Acronyms and names used to identify archival repositories (depots) and contact details • Source codes • Types of archives • Structuring NAAIRS search queries • NAAIRS Help Guidelines • Search
This will again bring up a list where the best will be to type the surname and/or maiden name in block 1 and a name or names in block 2. If you have a province it is the best to go to the relevant province. • We will only concentrate on the provinces as that is where you get the best results and you can use one of two links to search there first.
- In short we will only be using the Main Archives that is searchable for estates, cemeteries, Anglo Boer War, etc. • The archives to get Estates, death notices, wills, etc will be the main archives and the reference numbers.
Sources that obtained from eGGSA can be found for by members of eGGSA
