One of the founders of Seattle. Daughter of Jonathan and Mary Troutman Simmons. Wife of Dr. David Swinson Maynard. She was the last survivor of an 1850 Oregon wagon train party stricken with cholera in Wyoming. Doc Maynard stopped to help and later married the widow.

Buried at the highest point in Lakeview Cemetery, the highest point in Seattle.
