Catherine K Barton

Catherine was born at "Essex Lodge" and married at the same place. Her husband had been a successful lawyer in Winchester, VA for a number of years and was a member of the VA House of Burgesses from Frederick County. They made their home in Winchester and took a prominent part in the social life of the community. She was fond of society, exceedingly bright and possessed of great tact and had a large circle of friends. She received, under her father's will, a life estate in the farm in Sassafras Neck known as "Broxton's." She is buried in her husband's family plot in the cemetery in Winchester. She had no children.
