Joseph Bragg Sr. left a will on 26 January 1746 at Lunenburg Parish, Richmond County, Virginia.
In the name of God Amen I Joseph Bragg Sr. of Lunenburg Parish in the County of Richmond being very sick and weak but of perfect sence and memory thanks be to God for the same doe make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. that is to say first and principally I bequeath my soul to God and that gave it my body to the earth to be decently buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named….
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Bragg one Schilling and noe more.
On 6 June 1758 at Richmond Co., Virginia, the Court ordered the church wardens of Lunenburg Parish to bind Tarpley Bragg a bastard according to law.

Thomas Settle, of LP, planter, for natural love and affection which I have and bear to my granddaughter Catharine Bragg and to Tarpley Bragg her son, and for the paternal care which I have for their future maintenance and well being; granted to my said granddaughter and Tarpley Bragg, all that plantation whereon I now live, together with 200a of land, given and granted by Andrew Boyer and wife Sarah unto Robert Prid by deed dated 4 MAY 1681, bounded beg. at a small red oak being a corner tree of Joshua Lawson's, thence by or nigh a crooked line bewteen the said Boyer and Frances Settle unto another small red oak, thence northeast dividing the land now mentioned from the old tract of 600a to a certain stake on purpose let down being near a white oak in another line of the said 600a, thence along by or near the said line to a corner tree of the said Lawson's, and lastly southwest and south along the said Lawson's line to the beg.; that the said Robert Prid by his LWT give and bequeath the said land to Richard Rice and Richard Rice Junior, and the said Richard Rice and Richard Rice Junior have given and sold the land to Francis Settle, sicuate in LP, which said 200a of land the said Frances Settle did by his LWT give and devise to Thomas Settle his son now party to these presents, with all houses, etc.; grant to my granddaughter Catharine Bragg 100a of the said 200a during her natural life and after her decease to descend to Tarpley Bragg and his heirs forever; the other 100a to the said Tarpley Bragg when he attains to the age of 18 years; the 100a to my granddaughter after her decease to descend to the said Tarpley Bragg.
