Notes for Catherine Cooke:

Her name was Catherine Cooke Roundtree when she married Martin Shoffner.

Was her father's name John Cook?

Page 50 of "Shoffner Family History" by Margaret Shoffner DeMoss says Catherine Cooke is a direct decendant of Francis Cooke of the Mayflower.

According to family records and research, Catherine is a direct descendant of Frances Cooke, who came over on the Mayflower in 1620. This information is noted in "The Tennessee Genealogical Magazine" Volume 44/Number 4, Winter 1997 on page 6.

She married Martin Shofner on July 7, 1780 at Duplin in Orange County (which became Alamance County in 1849) in North Carolina.

Catherine and Martin were the parents of ten children.

The family migrated to Bedford County, Tennessee in 1807.

In 1808, Catherine's husband Martin, established the Shofner Luthern Church. It is at the church's cemetery that the couple lie at rest together.
