About Catherine-Gabrielle Moitié

The article shows the display on a column to honor one of the Filles du Roi: "Catherine Moitié’s name is at the base of the trunk, with the names of her 11 children written on wooden planks surrounding the tree. Protruding metal branches represent her grandchildren, while the names of her great-grandchildren are inscribed on hanging, autumnal leaves."

From Diane Sheppard's "Filles du Roi – Part 11 – Marie Lépine to Marguerite Françoise Moreau," MHH, April 2016: Catherine Moitié, daughter of Jacques Moitié and Françoise Langevin, married Désiré Viger, son of Nicolas Viger and Robine Lessart, 19 September 1667 in Montréal. Their son, Jacques Viger, was hired 31 May 1701 as part of the original convoy to Détroit [Antoine Adhémar, FHL microfilm #1613373, image #02279; Adhémar, RAPQ1930, p. 206; Adhémar and Roy, Vol. 6, p. 61]. Désiré Viger died 5 March 1688 in Montréal. Catherine Moitié married Jean Poirier dit Lajeunesse, son of Jean Poirier and Jeanne Ribairo or Vibrayre, and widower of fille du Roi Marie Langlois, 22 November 1688 in Boucherville. Jean Poirier’s son by Marie Langlois, Jean Poirier was hired 16 July 1702 as part of the convoy to Détroit [Antoine Adhémar, FHL microfilm #1613459, images #00936, #00937, #00938; Adhémar, RAPQ1930, p. 207; Adhémar and Roy, Vol. 6, p. 98 – does not enumerate all the men hired]. [Gagn%C3%A9, pp. 416-417; Jetté, pp. 930 – Poirier; 1126 – Viger].
