Catherine Jones was the daughter of Elijah William Jones and the former Miss Catherine Simpson. Catherine's mother was a sister of Rev. John Simpson; who was very outspoken for the American causes of liberty, thus encouraging his congregations to fight for their freedom from Britain.
In or around 1780, Catherine married Samuel Knox; with whom she had the following known children:
Elizabeth (1783-1784)
Catherine (1784-1853)
Infant Son (1784)
William (1788-1872)
Marey (1792-)
Zubock (1794-1884)
Margaret (1797-1887)
Jannet (1799-)
After the war, Catherine and Samuel Knox emigrated west; first to Kentucky and then settling in the area around Bedford (later Rutherford) County, Tennessee. Here they live out their days raising their children.
On October 28, 1843, Catherine Knox filed in Rutherford County Tennessee for a widows pension under the 1838 act stating that she is the widow of Samuel Knox, a revolutionary war pensioner at the rate of $73.33 per annum. Catherine continued to receive this pension until her death in 1846.
