About Catherine Ann Livingston
Catherine Anne, born in Snarestone Leicestershire, England was the eldest daughter of Wm and Ann Meakin. She was from a large family, some of whom owned and operated the Meakin potteries in England. Her own father was a farmer. She was companion to Lady Oliver and governess of the Oliver children at "Cherrymont" Ireland the country estate of Lord and Lady Oliver of England. There she met and married William Livingston on September 14,1852. They settled on a small farm called "Knockenode" near Avoca, Ireland. The family farm included a place in the valley where two rivers joined which was made famous by Sir Thomas Moore's poem "The Meeting of the Waters."
