Catherine Marie Tanis

In 1930 Catherine Wydra ((17 y, born in Indiana), her father George Wydra (53, Poland), her mother Catherine (46, Poland), her siblings Henry (26, Illinois), John (24, Illinois), Joseph (21, Indiana), Angeline (11, Indiana) and Michael (7, Indiana) lived in Hammond, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana. Her parents immigrated in 1902.

Catherine Marie Wydra married on 1 May 1935 to one year older Vernon Tanis, who was also born in Indiana, Lake County.

Their sons Peter E Tanis and Kenneth V Tanis were born on 30 July 1938 and 26 October 1941. They had also a daughter called Karen.

Her husband Vernon Tanis died in October 1990 at the age of 78 years. Catherine Marie died in April 2001 at the age of 88 years in Brookfield, in the southeastern part of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin / Lansing / Dyer / LOFS Catherine Marie Tanis, 88, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, formerly of Lansing, Dyer and Lakes of the Four Seasons, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001. She is survived by two sons: Peter of Freeport, IL and Ken (Mary) of Dyer; one daughter, Karen (Eugene) Tobak of Brookfield, WI; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Angeline (John) Fliter of Indianapolis. Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2001, 11 A.M. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Burial, Homewood Memorial Gardens, Homewood, IL. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
