Elihu Yale married Catherine, widow of Joseph Hynmers, formerly second of Council at Ft. St. George, Madras, India, and left three daughters. His only legitimate son, David, died in Madras, 1688, age 4

Yale married a Mrs. Hincmars, widow of his predecessor in the governorship of Fort St. George, and left three daughters but no son. His last lineal descendant, Dudley Long North, M.P., died in 1829.
