  • From the Sioux City Journal, 16 March 1989, page A8: "Cecelia G. Theobald, 94, of Anthon died Wednesday, March 15, 1989, in Colonial Manor at Correctionville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Gerald Zensen officating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon, under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Mrs. Theobald, the former Cecelia Topf, was born June 16, 1894, in Charter Oak. She married Nicholas Theobald January 11, 1916, in Mapleton. The couple farmed at Mapleton for one year, and moved to Little Falls, Minnesota, where they lived for three years. They lived at Sergeant Bluff for five years and moved to a farm near Anthon in 1926. They retired to Anthon in 1953. Mr. Theobald died April 28, 1977. She had lived the last 5 1/2 years at Colonial Manor. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxilliary of Anthon. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Berneice) Crabb of Sepulveda, California, Mrs. William (Margaret) Atwood of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Mrs. John (Alice) Galvin of Correctionville, two sons, Rev. Vincent Theobald of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Richard of Anthon; 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, her parents, a son, Gerald, a sister and five brothers."
