They had 10 children: Joel (1770-1865), Isam (1776-1850), Prudence (1778-1870), Rachael (1781-1868), Ruth (1784-1830), Silas (1787-1865), Esther (1790-?), Amer (1794-1877)& Rebecca (1796-1852). Charity was the daughter of Richard Williams and Prudence Beals, in New Garden Monthly Meeting, Rowen County, North Carolina. William Hiatt had inherited his father's farm and married Charity Williams of Welsh descent. The Battle of General Green and Cornwallis took place on their farm and surrounding area. The wounded soldiers of both sides were taken into the New Garden Meeting House and Mrs. Hiatt baked bread for them. Charity died at her daughter, Rebecca's house in Spiceland, Indiana.
