Charity was one of 4 known children of George Lightsky Cherokee warriors: Diana born about 1728 Bedford Regions, Joseph, Sophia, and Charity born abt 1730 Bedford Regions.

Margaret Patton was the daughter of Robert P. Patton (1725 Eng/bef 6 May 1792 NC)and Charity Lightsky born abt 1730 in the Bedford regions VA.

Dianna Lightsky born abt 1728 in Bedford Regions VA married Joseph Martin Ballew (born 1703/died after 1759) one of their children was Capt David Ballew who is suspected of being the father of Jesse Ballew that married Charity Moore. please read my msg 932 dated 22 Aug 2002.

Joseph Lightsky unknown who he married but he was with his sisters Diana and Sophia on the Leelanah Indian Reservation in Michigan and is recorded in the Marriage records as having witnessed several marriages there.

Sophia married David Fisher and had James Fisher and George
Fischer. David Fisher had a brother James that was the 2nd husband of Sophia's sister Diana Lightsky widow of Joseph Martin Ballew(records at Leelanah Indian Reservation marriage records of Sophia's and Diana's daughters.

Jesse Ballew's (husband of Charity Moore) 2nd wife was a widow whose maiden name was Nancy Montgomery. They married after the Aug census of 1830 in the Pulaski district lands of Crawford Co, Mo.This was previously named from 1820 to 1829 as Pulaski district lands of Gasconade Co, Terr of Mo and Mo state.1829 to 1833 these lands were Pulaski District lands of Crawford Co, Mo.1833 (New) Pulaski Co was carved from Pulaski district lands of Crawford Co, Mo.1834 Jesse died and his estate was finally settled 18 Oct 1836 with the last money being sent to Jesse's daughter Ann (Mrs William Spencer Bird).Jesse's son David M. Ballew was executor.

Jesse was murdered and scalped and his scalp was sold for 15 dollars. His wife was dug up and her scalp was sold also.

Suspect that Jesse was buried next to his last wife Nancy (Miss ____, Mrs. Jesse Ballew) born 1782/___ and that Charity is also there. Jesse and Charityin unmarked graves. Nancy Montgomery was the last daughter of John J. Montgomery born abt 1725 Dongel Ireland and Sarah Moore born after 1726 in Ulster Ireland .... Sarah was the sister of William Hamilton Moore Sr written of earlier.

Further note:in 1849 Pulaski Co carved off Leclede Co, Mo. It is in Leclede that Jesse, Charity, and Nancy (Jesse's 2nd wife) are buried. Nancy is listed in the Leclede cemetery books by the Historical society there.

Charity was a witness to a land deed for son James in 1805. She was living with James and Margaret (Wilson) Patton and their children. Robert, Charity's husband, died in 1772 in NC. Charity, according to Patton family records and land deeds that she was a witness to, began living with her son James in the Newtown district of Madison County, GA(was Franklin county then, later becoming Elbert and then Madison) where she is buried on land owned by the Patton family. She is NOT buried with Robert, but rather with James and family.
