Married Nelly Hindmarsh Mundy, daughter of Alfred Miller Mundy, on 5 August 1862.
Died on 11 September 1903 at age 71, without issue.
Gained the rank of officer in the 38th Regiment.
Fought in the Crimean War, where he was severely wounded.
Fought in the Indian Mutiny.
Lieutenant-Colonel of the 100th Regiment between 1871 and 1877.
Colonel of the 35th Regimental District between 1877 and 1883.
AA&QMG between 1884 and 1885.
Colonel of the troops in Shorncliffe between 1885 and 1886
Gained the rank of Colonel in the Devonshire Regiment.
Gained the rank of Major-General.
