Charles E. Allen, Sr., age 74, of Athens, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014. Charles was born June 12, 1939 in Saylersville, KY the son of Oliver and Haley (Arnett) Allen. He married Joanne Thorp and then married Patricia McClain on June 9, 1984 in Battle Creek and she survives.

Charles was a "jack of all trades" and if anyone needed anything, Charles was always there to lend a hand.

Besides his wife Patricia, Charles is survived by his sons: Charles, Jr. (Renee) Allen of Colon, Daniel Ray Allen, Sr. of Union City, Mark (Shannon) Allen, Sr. of Battle Creek, Richard (Melissa) Allen of Concord, 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Hyram Allen of Battle Creek; and 2 sisters: Reva (Paul) Marshall and Christine Allen, both of Saylersville, KY. Charles was preceded in death by 1 great grandson: Chase Jeffery Allen; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Visitation for Charles will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek.
