Charles Banken LONE TREE, Iowa #45;- Charles H. Banken, 58, Lone Tree, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree. The Rev. Ann Rouse will officiate. Pallbearers are Barry Hartsock, Lonnie Powers, Edward Law, Mark Sojka, Amy Abrams, Matt Mason, R. J. Droll and Bradley Banken. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites conducted by Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. A luncheon will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion after the burial. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Lone Tree. A memorial has been established. Mr. Banken was born on May 15, 1944, in Mason City, the son of Oscar and Madeline McFadden Banken. He married Linda Barton on Nov. 18, 1978. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1962-1964, aboard the U.S.S. Canberra. He worked at Moore Business Forms for 37 years, retiring in 2001. His driving companion was 'Boy' his black lab. He loved fishing, hunting, astronomy, taking photos and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the North American Fishing Club and the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chad Banken of Indianapolis, Ind. and Tony Krueger and his wife, Kathleen, of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Angela Krueger of Denver, Colo. and Holly Grostic of Kennesaw, Ga.; four grandchildren, Tyler and Tiersa Grostic and Collin and Cade Krueger; a sister, Judy Droll and her husband, Robert, of Davenport; two brothers, Clancy Banken and his wife, Gail, of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Jerry Banken of Dumont, Colo.; a mother-in-law, Ann Barton of Lone Tree; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
