Y., October 16, 1816; died in Springfield, Mo., March 9, 1874; married in Troy, N, Y., September 25, 1839, LUCY ADAMS, daughter of Harmon and Grace Millard Adams, born in Troy, N. Y., January 9, 1819; died in St. Louis, Mo., May 15, 1884, they had twelve children, all born in Troy NY. He was a carpenter and contractor and architect..

He was an architect and builder, continuing in active business until his death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and took an active interest in church work. In politics he was a Republican, and was Superintendent of the Countv House in Troy, NY for a number of vears.

- 1870 census: Chas. Brownell (53) and wife Lucy (51); in Springfield, Missouri w ch. Jessie (14, b NY), George (10, b NY), Eugene (8, b NY), and Chas (6, b NY). Also there is son Frank E. Brownell (29, b NY) and his wife Nellie (32, b NY) and their dau. Cora Brownell (10, b Missouri). Charles is a house builder, son Frank is retired Army officer.
