Philadelphia Inquirer, February 27, 1879 "Charles Camblos, one of the oldest and best known brokers in this city, died on Tuesday evening, at his residence, No. 2209 Walnut street, after a month's illness, in the seventy-second year of his age. He was born in this city, of French parents, and received an academic education. He entered the wholesale grocery store of Amos Butcher, and afterward became chief clerk of the firm of Scull & Thompson. He then entered the wholesale dry goods business on his own account, the firm being Eagle, Westcott & Camblos, and amassed considerable money in it. In 1843 he associated himself as banker and broker, independently, his brother, George being associated with him for a short time. During his long career he gained the esteem and respect of all with whom he came in contact. He married a daughter of the late William Patton, cashier of the Farmers and Mechanic's Bank, and leaves five sons and four daughters. Mr. Camblos contributed liberally to many of the charities in this city. At the time of his death he was a vestryman of St. Stephen's Protestant Episcopal Church and of the Wallace Street French Protestant Episcopal Church."
Philadelphia Inquirer, March 1, 1879 "FUNERAL OF MR. CHARLES CAMBLOS Yesterday morning the funeral of the late Charles Camblos took place from his late residence, No. 2209 Walnut street, there being a large attendance of members of the Board of Brokers of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, and others. The remains were in a handsome casket, on the lid being a large cross and a silver plate, the latter having inscribed on it the name and dates of birth and death of the deceased. At ten o'clock service was conducted at the house by Rev. Fathers Prescott and Maturin of St. Clement' P. E. Church, after which the funeral cortege proceeded to St. Stephen's P. E. Church, where the rotor, Rev. Dr. William Rudder, was assisted in the service by Revs. J. K. Lewis, Charles Miel and Gideon J. Burton. The remains were interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery."
