This William Blevins is one of my ancestors and I have pages and pages of information showing he was born ca. 1786 the son of Nathan Blevins and Hannah Osborn Copeland (she was separated from her husband Charles Copeland when she and Nathan became common law husband and wife. Later she married James Blevins in 1793 and James is not the father of this William Blevins.

.After Nathan’s participation in the War for Independence he fathered children with Hannah Osborne/Copeland whose husband Charles Copeland had left her by 1785. Hannah was b. ca 1758-64. She was a daughter of Enoch Osborne and Jane Hash.

After Nathan’s participation in the War for Independence he fathered 2 children with Hannah Osborne/Copeland whose husband Charles Copeland left her by 1785, but he returned and they had

• Jane in 1789 and
• Elizabeth by 1791.

Hannah was b. ca 1757-1764. She was a daughter of Enoch Osborne and Jane Hash. Nathan and Hannah Copeland with their 2 children appeared on the Personal Property Tax list in 1789. in Russell Co, VA.

• Charles Copeland born 1757/60 in Halifax Co, Nova Scotia, Canada, or Scotland. Researchers have both dates and places.

Died November 26, 1836 in Vermillion Co, IL He is thought to be buried with son in law James Howell Sr who married Charles' daughter Jane. Cemetery is believed lost and has no markers. Probably buried on his farm.

Hannah was the daughter of Ephraim Osborne of Grayson Cty Va. She was a sister of Capt Enoch Osborne.
