About Charles Edward Hite, Sr
Charles Edward “Shorty” Hite, 85, of Urbandale, died at 4:49pm on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his home.
Charles was born October 16, 1934 in Bardwell, Kentucky to John and Flora (DeWeese) Hite. He married Irene Steers in 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2003.
He graduated from Cairo High School and had worked as a butcher in Cairo. Charles worked in the insurance industry first for Washington National Insurance, out of Cairo and then for Modern Woodmen for over 40 years. He was an avid goose, duck and arrow head hunter and also loved to fish. Charles was the treasurer for the Village of Pulaski for over 16 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #237 in Cairo. He was of the Baptist faith.
Charles is survived by his sons, Thomas (Dianna) Hite and Charles Jr. (Judy) Hite both of Urbandale; daughter, Cindy (Dick) Lewis of Columbia, MO; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Howard Hite; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo with Masonic Services being held at 7:30pm.
Funeral services for Charles “Shorty” Hite will be at 11:00am on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the funeral home with Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment will follow at Cairo City Cemetery.
