Charles T. Mann

In September, 1892, Charles T. Mann murdered Frank Reinhart in Suffern. According to witnesses, Mann "attacked Reinhart on a public road, and after knocking him down jumped on his head and so injured him that he died a few days later. Mann's excuse was that Reinhart had followed Mrs. DeGroat and attacked her in the street. He denied having jumped on Reinhart, but a witness of the affray testified that he did." (The Port Jervis Union, May 11, 1893, page 3). Charles Mann was found guilty of manslaughter in the first degree in May 8, 1893. He was admitted to Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, NY on May 13, 1893. He was released sometime before his marriage to Clara Gregory on January 22, 1911 in Ramapo, NY.
