About Charles Edward Miller

Charles "Charlie" Edward Miller, 95 of Zionsville, peacefully departed from this earth to join the Lord on October 13, 2014.

He was born February 8, 1919 in Old Augusta, IN to Frank and Helen Langford Miller.

Charles moved to Zionsville in 1920, where he grew up across the street from his future bride Anne (Mills) Miller. Charles graduated from Zionsville High School in 1937. Charles and Anne later married in April 1942.

Charles enlisted in the Army Air Corp. for action in World War II and served in Europe for 40 months, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning from service, Charles went on to work for Heatherton and Burner and later for the Zionsville Municipal Water department.

Charles was a hard working man as well as a dedicated husband and father. Charles spent his life serving the Lord and his community. He was a lifetime member of Zionsville United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir for 56 years. Charles was also a lifetime member of the Lions Club, serving as President in 1992. He was involved in a variety of projects helping others. Charles was honored for his service by receiving a compilation of awards including the Distinguished Service Award, Town Crier award in 1992, the Soaring Eagle Award in 2011, the outstanding leadership award, and the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen Miller, sister, Mary Helen Watson Miller, brother, Curtis Miller, his loving wife Anne Miller and daughter Charlotte Miller.

Charles is survived by his three children, Chuck (Bev), Don (Chris), and Sara Carnicella (Bob), all of Zionsville. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
