About Charles Edward Rhinehart

Charles Edward Rhinehart, 88, of Scottsdale, passed away March 31, 2008. He was born in Colbart, Oklahoma on November 30, 1919. He worked in the mines in Ray, AZ before joining the Army and being assigned to the Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division in World War II, the famous exploits of which were chronicled in Stephen Ambrose's book "Band of Brothers : E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest," and later depicted in the Spielberg/Hanks movie series "Band of Brothers". After the war, he married the love of his life, Louise, and spent 62 wonderful years with her. He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone until his retirement in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Louise Rhinehart, daughters, Cindy Case (and husband David) and Donna Rhinehart, his eight grandchildren, Beau, Ryan, Kimberly, Darren and Stephanie Case, and Matthew, Jeffery and Clare Mesnard, and his brother William Taylor. He will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at a ceremony on April 11, 2008, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Mortuary. Published in The Arizona Republic on 4/7/2008
