About Charles Rundlett

______________________

Lt. James Rundlet received a grant of fifty acres of land in the part of Exeter which became Stratham. He obtained this grant in 1698 and another of the same amount in 1706. In 1699 he married Elizabeth ROBINSON, daughter of Jonathan ROBINSON. She had two sisters, Sarah and Hester, also five brothers, John, Jonathan, David, James and Joseph.

The military experience of James began in 1695 when he and his brother, Charles Jr., were called to protect the town from the Indians and do scouting duty. He must have served in other of the Indian Wars in order to have the title of Lt., but I do not have his record. James was among the petitioners for the establishment of the town of Stratham on Dec. 3, 1709 and had probably resided there since his marriage in 1699.

About 1718 the name of James Rundlet appears on the estate settlements of several people - Francis Mason, John Mason and others. He must have died not long after that date, for in 1723 and 1724 the administration of the estate of James Rundlet, Stratham, is granted to his widow, Elizabeth and his son, Daniel. (from the files of Rev. Roland D. Sawyer, Exeter, NH)
