About Charles Sperry
Charles Sperry, son of Joy Sperry (born 9 February 1785 at New York) and Mary Lamont (born 29 November 1789 at New York), was born 30 June 1829 at Mecca, Trumbull County, Ohio. Charles Sperry came to Utah in October 1847 with the Jedediah M. Grant Company. Charles Sperry served as Bishop of Nephi, second ward; counselor to President Joel Grover, Juab stake; patriarch 21 February 1888; Sheriff of Juab County, Utah; county commissioner one term.
Marriage and Children
On 21 February 1848 Charles Sperry married Emily L. Miller (daughter of Josiah Miller and Mary Morgan, pioneers 1847, J. B. Noble company). Their children were:
- Philenda Amanda Sperry born 18 November 1848, married Alvins Sap on 31 January 1868
- Charles Henry Sperry born 16 October 1850, married Caroline Webb on 13 November 1871
- Miles Harrison Sperry born 27 March 1857, married Sarah Edmunds on 30 April 1886
- Maren Olive Sperry born 4 April 1861, married William C. Wheeler on 17 February 1881
- Sarah Elizabeth Sperry born 18 August 1862, married Charles E. Abbott on 30 May 1870
- William J. Sperry born 29 July 1863, married Augusta Taylor on 27 October 1886
- Mary Emily Sperry born 9 October 1864, married James R. Black on 21 September 1874
