http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=20552934
The Thiel family, based in New Orleans and Baton Rouge from the early 1800s to the 1950s, were proprietors of the United States Bonded Warehouse Company, later the United Warehouse Company Limited, and the owners of a significant portion of land in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas. The family consisted of Charles Augustus Thiel, who moved to Baton Rouge after serving in a Missouri regiment during the Civil War to work as an internal revenue agent, his wife Emma Nephler Thiel, and their children Charles A. Thiel Jr. and Daisy Thiel Govan. They were closely connected with the Nephler family, a prominent family of lawyers, and the Schoonmaker family at the time.
