About Charles Tippett
ACCIDENT NO. 38 - June 30, 1904. - Charles Tippet lost his life by accidentally walking into the shaft at the 8th level of the Trimountain Mine. Tippet was employed in the drift south of the shaft. Before he left to go to the shaft his partner, Charles Octavius, warned him to be careful, as the timbermen were repairing the guard rails around the shaft. When he was near the timbermen, Blosh Mehelcic, Anton Jurkovitch and Battiste Pucci, warned him not to go near the shaft. He must have lost his bearings and walked into the shaft, falling from the 8th to the 9th level, a distance of 125 feet.
An inquest was held before Coroner Brand.
Verdict of the Jury: “We, the jury, upon our oaths do say that the said Charles Tippet met his death by accidentally falling down No. 2 shaft of the Trimountain Mine from the 8th to the 9th level.” Dated June 30, 1904.
