About Charles Lewis Warner
In 1900 he was boarding with his sister, Jennie, and her husband in Elk Rapids Twp, MI. He worked as a laborer in a lumberyard. He worked at the sawmill in Torch Lake and the sawmill in Jangleville, north of Atwood in Charlevoix County, MI. He walked 2 miles to work. His job was to get up steam for operation of the mill to run the steam engine, plus keeping the machinery in over. He enjoyed trapping and hunting. In JAnuary 1934 he opened a sawmill on his farm for 4 months and operated it again in 1935 for 2 months, and again for 3 months in 1941. After the children were grown, Emma and some of the sonds formed their own music group and played for square dances in Torch Lake and Charlevoix for 15 years. Chales played the spoons.
